Who does What at Davison Health Center?
Feb. 18, 2008 by Lisa Currie
Yes, we know. It’s confusing.
There are three related (but distinctly different) health offices housed in one building, the Davison Health Center.
(Though it is a beautiful building, yes?)
So here’s a basic overview of the services provided by those three offices so you know which one you need.
WesWELL, the Office of Health Education (your humble blogger) focuses on educational outreach activities on health issues. That means prevention education provided by a professional health educator (Lisa Currie) and our most fabulous student peer education group, the Peer Health Advocates. Plus non-credit classes, safer sex supplies, a great resource library, funding for your health education events and more. Drop in the office on the second floor of the DHC or call 860.685.2466 or email weswell@wesleyan.edu. And check out our extensive website at www.wesleyan.edu/weswell.
Health Services provides confidential medical care for illness, injury, sexual health, travel consults, and more. So if you need to see a doctor or nurse, or need a sexual health visit, or a vaccine, or a referral to a local medical provider or something else in the medical realm, this is the place to go. Appointments are strongly recommended since walk-ins may have to wait. As comfy as the waiting room is, it’s no fun to wait if you don’t feel good. And there is no cost to see a provider (ask about the very reasonable fees for other things though). Call 860.685.2470 for your appointment. Their website is at www.wesleyan.edu/healthservices and is chock full of information on services and such.
The Office of Behavioral Health for Students provides free, confidential mental and emotional health support in individual and group settings. Again, appointments are needed, so give a call when you need it. No need to wait until you’re in crisis — call if you need to talk with someone. Call 860.685.2910 for your appointment or find them on the web at www.wesleyan.edu/obhs.
All three offices are located in the Davison Health Center, 327 High Street, next to X House and the CFA Theater.
